If you looked up the word ‘bucolic’ in the dictionary I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if the picture that accompanied the definition was of the community of Ottobine, Virginia. Directly across the street from the Elementary School and polling place for the Ottobine district is a barn with horses and it is not an uncommon occurrence to be passed by a Mennonite family riding in a horse drawn buggy. This is the sort of rural beauty, charm, and heritage I will fight for when I’m in Richmond while also fighting for the infrastructure necessary to keep schools like Ottobine Elementary on the cutting edge of technology. Broadband internet coverage is no longer an item of luxury. Small businesses, large industry, and educational opportunities all rely on being able to connect to the larger world around us. I intend to make those connections a reality.
I look forward to spending more time in Ottobine this year and getting to meet the voters living there.
